Larry Porte

The instructor of the SAFE program is Larry Porte, a 25-year-veteran of the United States Secret Service. During his tenure as a Special Agent, Porte served on both national and regional details, including the White House and Dignitary Protection Division. Prior to this time, he spent five years as a Detroit Police Officer. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree in criminal justice and currently serves as a professor of criminal justice at Saginaw Valley State University where he specializes in the areas of personal protection, threat assessment, and school and workplace violence.
