This class is presented in 3 modules.

Module 1 - How Lasers Work
A brief overview of the uses of medical/surgical lasers. Course is intended for all personnel who may be expected to work in the laser environment. Emphasis is on appropriate safety precautions to be implemented during laser surgery.

Module 2 - Tissue Interaction
This module describes several current uses of surgical lasers, with explanations as to why the laser is a good tool in specific surgical applications.

Module 3 - Safety Issues
This session provides a discussion of the hazards associated with the use of surgical lasers. The American National Standards Institute Z136.3 for the Safe use of Lasers in Health Care Facilities is used for reference.
